Emma's swirl cupcakes
Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 3:20PM
I feel as if I haven't baked in a long time! I got a call last week to make two dozen rainbow swirled cupcakes for Emma's birthday. Very specific, wanted vanilla cake with a whipped ganache filling. I always throw in an extra big one for the birthday girl!
P.S. - how obvious is it that Doug didn't take these photos???

i am mesmerized by these cupcakes. i almost don't want to know how you got the colors to come out because i like to believe that it was magic!
Yes, my little sister, it was magic:)
Really, though, how did you do this? Please, please share.
Hi Kirsten: This is actually the second batch of swirl cupcakes I made. The first came to be because I was making this cake, http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2095/1859094668_aba7cffdc7.jpg, and had a lot of colored buttercream left over. I plopped it all in a pastry bag and these were the result, http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2193/1897157932_ca9acec5e3_b.jpg. Emma and her mom were looking on my web site for ideas and she picked the swirls. Glad you like them!
Thanks! I can't wait to make some buttercream magic.
let me know when you do - i want to see pictures!
